Ladling water for a cup of green tea /

Ladling water for a cup of green tea / 水を汲みにゆく _e0088316_22391342.jpg Last December,
escaping Tokyo's superficial&super kitsch&super commercialistic Christmas world,

I visited in Kyoto and fortunately had a good chance to
serve my tea at a Japanese traditional doll artisan's house located close to Kiyomizu-dera Temple.

For serving a good cup of tea, the preparation(tea powder, cup, water, space arrangement, sweet, the heart, smile and serenity etc...) is quite important.

The artisan recommended me to ladle water at Yasaka Shrine*. (in Gion, fomouse for Geisha/Maiko-san.) and
handed me an empty water bottle.
After walking for 20min, I made my way through the tourist crowd, then just for ladled the pure water.

The moment of boiling the hot water is one of the greatest time during Tea ceremony, I think.
The boiling sound was just like wintry wind and even though of course we were not outside, I could feel "winter" whole in mind and body.

My tea with the strong fragrance and a sweet flavor came out of soft pure water from the shrine .
It made us really happy, it was a real heart-warming special time,
finally a real Japanese-Christmas!!

I have seen some Kabuki*(a classial Japanese dance-drama) and some of them have scenes of mysterious and/or romantic stories on riverside. In the stories, the characters come to the stream to ladle water for tea especially when
they are having guests.

In the past, "Going to the stream to ladle water for guest" was one of daily life.

Now I'm living in the city, to reach the pure water stream, it takes a half day...

But, what I can do is just serving a cup of warm tea with all my heart ♡♡♡

with a bottle of Volvic from Tokyu supermarket... ;)

Appreciate to Shimada-san, the doll artisan.

* * *
